Snake catching is another traditional Irula occupation. A young woman named Valli shows off a venomous snake called Suruttai, that she has caught. Valli's deceased father and a few others are licensed to catch snakes. Valli learnt to identify snakes, their habits and habitats from her parents at a very young age. Their family earns by supplying and releasing venemous snakes as per the requirements of the Madras Crocodile Bank nearby, that works on anti-venom preparations.
