In the dark of the night, villagers belonging to an Irula adivasi tribal hamlet are gearing up for a late night session of music. When they begin playing the instruments, everyone from the hamlet joins in, singing and dancing and playing their traditional instruments. A small fire is lit to heat up the membranes on the sides of the percussion instrument. The membranes are made of sheep skin and monitor lizard skin. When warmed up, the sound is better.
