Children of Jawadhu hills { 25 images } Created 17 Sep 2018

The album presents a slice of daily life of children belonging to the Malayali tribe of Jawadhu hills. The Malayali tribe depend on agriculture for livelihood. Children here brave everyday challenges to go to school. Many live in hostels away from families, either becasue their homes are deep in forests and far from school or because their parents have to take up seasonal migration. Migration has a direct consequence on families, especially on children and their learning. The learning outcomes for children in tribal villages are very low, eventually leading to high drop out rates.
